Yes! No! Yes! No! Yessss! The ups and downs of Coin Roll Hunting today…
|
Boy...what a roller-coaster today's coin roll hunt for silver dimes was! I picked up a box of dimes from the bank on my way home, but man was I disappointed when I opened them up! Every roll had a bright, shiny, brand new 2014 dime on each end...NOT what you want to see when you're looking for silver!
Out of curiosity I decided to open them up anyways...roll after roll after roll was nothing but brand spankin' new 2014 dimes. And I was like "Noooooooo"! But then it happened...
With 5 rolls left in the box I tore into the roll, just trying to get through the last few so I could move onto something else. Then I saw it. A skinny little solid silver rim peaking at me amongst the stack of copper nickel clad coins. I was like "YEEEESSSSS!"
But as I pulled it out from the stack and saw the portrait of Elizabeth II, my hopes sank and I was like "Noooooooo!" - those sneaky Canadian dimes!!!! You get all excited because you think you found a silver dime but it turns out to be a non-silver Canadian dime....booooo!
All bummed out I took the dime and looked a little closer. It didn't look like a regular Canadian dime. I flipped it over and looked at the date - 1965! Then I was like "YESSSSS!!!".
The dime turned out to be 80% silver! Whooohooo! I love it when I don't get skunked; and I thought for sure I would this box! Just goes to show you that you can't judge a coin roll by the end coins! Now go find more silver!
